Drentha

Thegn of Drentha
“We came in ships - ships so numerous as to make the ocean a hard thing to see. We burned our ships upon landing as to not think of retreat...“

I am Colbern, son of Ogma, son of Elatha of the Tuatha De Dannan, a race of immortals that at one time inhabited Eire. My father fell with Indec Mac De Domnam, of the kings of the Fomorie in single combat at the second battle of the Plains of Moytura - it was there that Balor of the Piercing Eye fell at the hands of Lug Lamfhata, his own eye bein driven through his skull by a slingstone, and its power turned upon his own army.

THe Druid Morrigan, daughter of Ernmas, fell upon the ranks of the Fomoire and they fled to the sea (for they also were of the sea...). In the aftermath of battle I attempted to seize the power of the Piercing Eye and instead lost my sanity. Fleeing the battlefield I traveled north, living as a thing of the Wild, a beast of the caves hiding from man. I was consumed by fits of rage and hunted wild beasts, tearing them apart, stripping their flesh from their bones, their uncured hides and sinews were used for garments and their raw flesh for food.

Many years rolled by, the times of Cuchulann and Suibne came and went and my fits came to a stop and my sanity returned. I began a wandering life searching for my kinsmen till at last I came to what was once the Great Halls of Tara to find nothing more than hill. I later found that the king was now in Cashel to the south and the Tuatha De were no more a power in Ireland - indeed, they were no more than legends to be told before the fire, while I am still here, a specter of past times. It was then that I swore to keep the blood of the Tuatha De Dannan strong and to seek them out for as long as I held breath. In such was the state of my mind as I set about on my journeys and crossed the Irish sea to England to begin my search. It was there that I sought out a group of warriors calling themselves the Drentha upon learning of their exploits (and their love of a good stout pint) and, taking a liking to their spirit and valor, decided to stay on for a while, maybe someday taking Ireland back for the Tuatha De Dannan, for the the Halls of Tara will sound again with drink, merriment, and meat.
