Kaldir
Born as the third son to a peasant farmer, Kaldir started life poorly. He became even poorer after barbarians swept the area, leaving Kaldir an orphan. With few options left to a grief stricken young boy interested in survival, Kaldir became a camp follower in the army that hunted the barbarians. He cleaned armor, sharpened weapons, carried messages, and ran errands for the soldiers in exchange for bits of food and small coins. As he grew older, he watched the soldiers at their weapon drills – mimicking them when he found alone time to himself. Eventually, some soldiers even took the time to teach the youth the dirty tricks of their trade. After reaching his full growth, Kaldir enlisted for a tour in the army. He completed his training and found himself gifted at dispensing death. By the age of 20, Kaldir lost track of the number of men he’d killed – both on the battlefield and off. At 22, Kaldir completed his tour of duty and he set off in search of glory and riches. After several years of plying the mercenary trade, Kaldir found himself on the run from a former employer after an “encounter” with the employer’s daughter. Though both parties enjoyed the tryst, the employer was significantly upset after finding it out - forcing Kaldir to flee. Hunted across the country, Kaldir found refuge in the mercenary band Drentha.
