What it is: PVC pipe is your basic core (the rigid center that you pad with foam).
Where you can get it: Most hardware stores. Lowes, Home Depot, and most smaller local hardware chains.
Approximate cost: $2-3

What it is: When people talk about the diameter of PVC pipe, they usually mean the distance between the inside walls of the pipe, not the measurement the whole way across (from outside edge to outside edge).

What it is: Most weapon tutorials will tell you to use a certain 'schedule' of PVC pipe. The term refers to the thickness of the PVC. The schedule is marked on the PVC (like in the picture above), and is usually displayed on the sign that tells the price.

What it is: 'Blue foam' is your basic padding material. You'll often hear this kind of foam referred to as 'closed cell' foam. In real life, people use it as a mattress under their sleeping bags when they go camping. You'll find it in the camping section.
Where you can get it: Walmart mostly, but Target and some sporting goods stores carry it, too.
Approximate cost: $6.50

What it is: DAP is your basic, run-of-the-mill glue. It smells aweful but, if used properly, will give you a beautiful bond that's hard to beat.
Where you can get it: Walmart, hardware stores like Lowes and Home Depot.
Approximate cost: $6

What it is: Duct tape can't fix everything in Dagohir (it tends to make anything it's covered with hit hard like a brick), but it has its uses.
Where you can get it: Pretty much anywhere - Walmart is a good place to start.
Approximate cost: $2-4, depending on quality

What it is: Hockey tape works well for reinforcing parts of your sword that you shouldn't be putting duct tape on (like the striking surface). In fact, hockey tape works well for reinforcing your sword period. Normal people use it to wrap injured wrists, hockey stick handles, etc. It's usually sold near the sport padding (knee pads, etc).
Where you can get it: Walmart, sporting goods store (like Dick's Sporting Goods).
Approximate cost: $2-3

What it is: Pretty self explanatory. You'll make your cover out of this.
Where you can get it: Walmart, JoAnne's, or any other store that sells fabric. Or you could use an old bedsheet.
Approximate cost: $1-2

What it is: As an alternative to PVC, some people use fiberglass electric fence posts (above, white) or driveway markers (above, orange).
Where you can get it: Hardware stores like Lowes or Home Depot, and farming stores like Tractor Supply Company.
Approximate cost: $2

What it is: These are fiberglass marching band flag poles. They also happen to make beautiful spear and glaive cores.
Where you can get it: www.bandshoppe.com
Approximate cost: $13-20, depending on how many you order. Order 6 or more to get the best price.

What it is: Pipe insulation makes quick and easy padding for the shafts of polearms. It isn't as durable as blue foam, however, and doesn't work well for striking surfaces. When buying pipe insulation, remember to get the same width as the outside diameter of your core.
Where you can get it: Hardware stores like Lowes or Home Depot
Approximate cost: $1-2

What it is: High quality open cell foam used for stabbing tips, arrows, javelins, etc.
Where you can get it: www.mcmaster.com

What it is: 3M Super 77 is a spray adhesive you can use instead of DAP. It works especially well for gluing open cell to closed cell or other open cell foam.
Where you can get it: Walmart, hardware stores (like Lowes or Home Depot).
Approximate cost: $10

What it is: Gorilla glue is a great glue to use when you don't want something to come apart. Ever. Just don't use it to glue your blade together, because it dries like a rock (which defeats the whole purpose of padding the weapon).
Where you can get it: Walmart, hardware stores (like Lowes or Home Depot).
Approximate cost: $3-6

What it is: Another kind of tape some tutorials recommend for holding things together.
Where you can get it: Walmart.
Approximate cost: $4

What it is: An alternative to DAP or 3M Super 77 glues for attaching foam together. Make sure you buy the indoor/outdoor type.
Where you can get it: Walmart, hardware stores (like Home Depot or Lowes).
Approximate cost: $4
